Health advice - Fertility
Having babies is great when it’s all going
well. But what if you’ve been trying to conceive for a while
nothing seems to be happening? The cold fact is that one in four
couples are having problems conceiving. The good news is that before
you embark on expensive and often invasive investigations or go down
the assisted conception route, there are more gentle methods that can
help boost your chances of having a baby.
Or you may already have had initial investigations
and pinpointed a problem with sperm count or motility, or perhaps
discrepancies in hormone levels. This is not the time to start feeling
disheartened – you now know what you need to address! There are
vast amounts of research showing that addressing your nutrient needs
and dealing with any general health issues can make a huge improvement
in the quality of the sperm and help balance female hormones.
If you are already planning a treatment cycle of
IUI, IVF or ICSI, good nutritional support can make a huge difference
to the outcome. Factors such as your nutrient status,
detoxification capacity, alcohol intake and stress levels can all play
a part in the final result. It takes 3 to 4 months for eggs and
sperm to mature, so we always recommend you to start the nutrition
treatment 3 to 4 months prior to the treatment. When you are
physically in good health you will also find the treatment much less
stressful, and increase your likelihood of positive outcome.
Where ever you are in your journey of starting a
family, it is important to make your and your partner’s health a
priority – it’s how you make healthy babies too.
